Ellenden Farm Kent
If you’d like to go off-grid and get away from it all, then have a look at our handmade Shepherd’s Huts and our beautiful bell tents situated in the middle of a working farm. This idyllic and picturesque campsite is surrounded by green fields and ancient, peaceful woodland. We have also recently completed the building of new showers for our guests.
The campsite is flat but natural and has views over Seasalter and Whitstable to the entrance of the Thames Estuary. It is surrounded by 200 acres of ancient woodland that was used by the Romans to travel to Canterbury as well as Henry VIII to hunt through.
The campsite is laid back and off-grid (no electricity or wifi) so if you want to get away from it all and unwind in a peaceful open field surrounded by nature then this is for you, we encourage you to do nothing!
You will be ‘camping’ in a ten-acre field with five other units, surrounded by 400 acres of countryside. The distance you choose to be from each other is up to you.
We have one shower and a flushing toilet (as well as two composting ones in the field) that we will do our best to keep clean. There will be paper hand towels, hand wash and bacterial sprays so hopefully together we can reduce any risk of infection. Units are cleaned and sprayed thoroughly between guests.
If you have concerns about interacting with the public then we suggest bringing your own food supplies. We want you to have a relaxing stay – you are in the countryside and social distancing should not be a problem. If you feel the need to wear masks and gloves on the farm then this may not be the holiday for you.
As of 2020, 180 acres of Ellenden Farm has been allocated to conservation. All fields are now put down to traditional English meadows. We use no pesticides or chemicals on the land and have joined forces with Natural England, The RSPB and the Bumblebee Conservation Trust teams to bring back as much fauna and flora as possible to attract as much wildlife back to the farm. When you stay at our campsite you will be staying in a conservation meadow full of wildlife!
The woodland has established footpaths and is teeming with wildlife. During early spring there is a thick carpet of bluebells and primroses that spread as far as the eye can see throughout the trees. During Autumn enjoy the wonderful, changing colours of the countryside. Adjoining this wood is the nature reserve, Victory Wood, where the timber was sourced by the navy to build Nelson’s flagship the Victory.
There are also large ponds close to the site which are home to many birds and plants.
Thanks Ellenden Farm!”
”I booked this getaway for my parents 30th wedding anniversary. On their return, the owner kindly put a complimentary bottle of champagne on ice in the hut. They had such an amazing time and loved everything about it. Everything was to such a high standard and they really didn’t want to leave. They’re planning on booking another stay with you shortly. Thank you so much”

“A fantastic hidden spot for a lovely break. We used two bell tents and a hut and were instantly impressed with all.
The set up outside each is beyond expected, like a cosy living room but outside. We loved the gas BBQs and used them both nights.
Would highly recommend.”
“Thank you for the great glamping overnight! Sitting outside in the afternoon sun doing absolutely nothing was good for us both.”
