Camping in a Shepherd’s Hut or Bell Tent – Begin your adventure!
We have three Shepherd’s Huts in all, two of the huts are suitable for three people. They have a double bed and a single bunk, a wood stove to keep the chill off along with 12-volt lighting. Each hut has its own fire pit and a gas BBQ to cook on. Parking is available just by the camp.
We supply all cutlery, plates cutlery and mugs. Just bring your food and drink! We have recently built two more shacks with just double beds; one is designed as a cricket pavilion full of old memorabilia and books!
Each of our Bell Tents has a double bed with fresh sheets and duvet. There’s a fire pit as well as a charcoal BBQ for cooking (The first bag of charcoal is supplied and any additional bags required are available for purchase at £5 per bag). Tea, coffee, sugar and marshmallows are provided along with an ice box with milk and also cutlery, glasses and mugs.
Please note that no naked flames are allowed in the tent. Battery/solar powered lights are supplied along with a small gas kettle boiler (for that cup of tea!) which is for outdoor use only,
Remember you are in a Conservation Area and off-grid (no electricity or wifi) but there is a self-composting toilet and this year (2019) we have brand new showers for our guests (please bring your own towels) as well as an inside loo!
The site is ideally situated for restaurants, shops, beaches or history. It is two miles from stylish Whitstable, three miles from historic Canterbury, 15 miles from the coastal delights of Margate and 30 miles from the port of Dover. For supplies, there is a Marks and Spencer’s food Hall five minutes away!
